County Government Departments and Offices
The seven member Blackford County Council oversees and administers the county budget.
Promotes and provides public health through education, services and enforcement of ordinances.
The County Commissioners serve as the executive branch of county government.
The Assessor's office works with the public providing assessment information and helping property owners understand the assessment procedure.
The County Auditor is in a real sense the chief accountant or controller of the county, being responsible for keeping all ledgers and records affecting county funds and for seeing that such funds are received and disbursed in the manner provided by law.
The Clerk's office is where all cases start for both Circuit Court and Superior Court.
Emergency Management is a professional system designed to coordinate the emergency response to and planning of natural and man-made disasters.
The Area Planning & Zoning office provides permits for new buildings or additions.
The Recorder's Office performs several duties of recording and preservation of documents such as deeds, mortgages, miscellaneous and DD 214 records for the citizens of Blackford County.
The Senior Ctizens Center rents room for meetings, receptions, etc.
The Surveyor's office is responsible for ditch assessments and serves as liaison between the public and the Drainage Board.
The Treasurer's office collects real estate, personal, business personal, mobile home, and ditch assessment taxes.
The Veterans Affairs Office handles the benefits that are available for Veterans and their families.
The Voter Registration Office is responsible for information pertaining to voting, the registration, and the election.
